“Useful location, not as inconvenient as some make out, reasonable facilities for the price, could be cleaner.”

We stayed here after moving out of our condo of 12mths before leaving Thailand. Family with one small kid and a crawling baby, in a Premier room for the space with all our bags we were transporting. On first glance the room is huge (as big as our two bdr condo) and has "all the basics", like a two … Mehr

“First four nights in Thailand”

This place must have been the height of luxury when it was built twenty odd years ago but now needs some money spent to return it to its former splendour. The first room we were shown to had no hot water but reception readily changed it for another on the 7th floor. Each room had a kitchenette wit… Mehr

Häufig gestellte Fragen zu Palms@Sukhumvit

  • Welche sind die besten Hotels in Bangkok?

  • Ja, die Gäste des Hotels Palms@Sukhumvit haben Folgendes hervorgehoben: We stayed here after moving out of our condo of 12mths before leaving Thailand. Family with one small kid and a crawling baby, in a Premier room for the space with all our bags we were transporting. On first glance the room is huge (as big as our two bdr condo) and has "all the basics", like a two place stove-top and hood, washing machine, microwave, kettle, crockery, spa bath, tv's, DVD player, but a few realizations hit home later. We moved quite a bit spare equipment, cleaning stuff, etc just because it was left over and intended to leave it behind, but ended up using it. Having read a few horror stories of the spa baths we ran cleaner through ours, it was pretty good actually, very little gunk came out, but we felt happier all the same. Used up the rest of our mold & scale cleaner to brighten up the shower recess and toilet. The fridge was pretty clean, we didn't intend to use the washing machine, the place seemed relatively well dusted except for hard to reach corners and behind the AV equipment. The biggest drama for us was the cleanliness of the floor because of the baby. It seemed uniformly clean however a few spot wipes revealed it was uniformly grimy. Two packets of floor wipes later and scrubbing/rubbing by foot revealed a brighter, cleaner floor (was regretting the 60sqm then). I must admit I didn't have the time or desire to climb up and check the aircon filters, but there wasn't any odours so they may have been okay. The sofa was pretty tired with cigarette burns, but we just hid it under sheets and bedding for our son. TV reception is probably a shared signal and weak, but we had a Chromecast, the DVD player on a single AV cable is pretty useless these days. The 6th floor network was present, but staying connected was an issue - the front desk very kindly gave us a 4G pebble which solved that issue. The crockery was fine, but limited glassware and we wished we brought our spare stuff. There's a stove-top but no cookware so we couldn't heat/cook food we brought easily, became a juggle with the microwave. A bit limited with cutlery and all the kitchen drawers and cupboards were musty. The king bed was comfortable enough and not as hard as Thailand hotel beds often are. Reception is friendly and we already speak a little Thai so wasn't a problem for us. We didn't use their lounge, bar, restaurant, tuk-tuk so can't comment on those. Having lived on Soi 39 for a year we know the pitfalls of transportation, but Soi 39 is an odd soi like many and just saying Soi 39 to a taxi can often be met with denial. It's more successful if you use Fuji Super 2 as a reference point, and like many places in Bangkok get used to the flow of traffic. Palms@Sukhumvit is not so suite anymore like the photos show, but at a good discount it's decent value for money for the area where 50-70K/mth condo rents are normal.
